ASSISTANT MANAGER (1) – CREDIT / CREDIT & COLLECTIONS
Job Scope
This position is responsible for assessing and managing the credit risk associated with the company’s financing and investment activities. This includes analyzing financial data, credit reports, and market trends to evaluate the creditworthiness of individuals, companies, or counterparties. The analyst plays a key role in identifying potential risks, recommending risk mitigation strategies, and supporting the development of policies and procedures to ensure that credit risk exposure remains within acceptable levels. Through detailed reporting and analysis, the Credit Risk Analyst helps to safeguard the organization’s financial health while contributing to informed decision-making processes related to credit and financing operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Receiving financing proposals from the Business Department (BD) and initial checking of annexed documents accompanying the financing proposal to ensure that the proposals are complete in all respects.
If any shortcomings are found, evaluate the criticality of the missing document(s) in terms of prudential and Bank’s policy compliance, decide whether the proposals in absence of missing document(s) is admissible or not and inform concerned BD of the decision/shortcoming accordingly.
Prepare and maintain on-line log-in and log-out books displaying all proposals received to Credit Unit and approvals (& other communications) dispensed out of Credit Unit with corresponding dates and ensure its daily updating for effective maintenance of Turn-Around-Time (TAT) agreed with BD.
Analyze Financial Statements and Financial Ratios.
Assess the proposed financing/investment with respect to prudential compliance, adherence to Bank's Financing Risk Policy and relevant thresholds defined therein for sectorial, product, collateral, time-maturity buckets, geographical and other concentrations.
Identification of potential inherent risks with respect to financing structuring, collaterals composition, market and industrial segments, management set-ups etc. and consultation with Unit Head or Chief Credit Officer to suggest mitigation measures.
Validate Obligor Risk Rating Scores (ORRS) and weightages assigned by BD and communicate differences/gaps found (if any) for BD’s concurrence. If disagreement persists with BD, refer the case to Unit Head or Chief Credit Officer for consultation.
Prepare initial set of queries for inconsistencies/shortcomings found in proposals and communicate them to BD within the specified TAT agreed with BD after consultation with Unit Head or Chief Credit Officer
Keep a record of the sent queries and send periodical reminders in case responses/replies are not received within the agreed TAT with BD.
Evaluation and assessment of responses received from BD against the queries raised/shortcomings identified, discuss the same with Unit Head or Chief Credit Officer to ascertain that the responses are satisfactory and there is no need for another round of queries.
On-site visits of the clients, as and when required, upon instructions from Unit Head or Chief Credit Officer to have a better understanding of the business model and inherent risks relating to the financing proposition.
Prepare an initial draft of financing approval synopsis covering all possible risk dimensions identified, and related mitigating measures and present his/her notes to Unit Head or Chief Credit Officer for his/her review, value addition, recommendation and sign-off for onward communication to FIC/BIC/BOARD.
Assume the Roles and Responsibilities of Secretary of Financing & Investment Committee, as and when assigned
Review and assess credit card applications submitted by prospective customers.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Banking & Finance or related professional qualification.
Priority will be given to candidates with prior experience in underwriting, or a related financial field.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks effectively.
Proficient in the following software applications: MS Work, Excel, and Outlook.
