Dr. Aishath Muneeza has been appointed to the Shariah Committee of Maldives Islamic Bank (MIB).
Dr. Muneeza brings extensive experience to her new role, having previously served as Deputy Minister at both the Ministry of Islamic Affairs and the Ministry of Finance. She has also held academic positions as a Professor and Associate Dean at the International Center for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF) University in Malaysia.
In addition to her academic and governmental roles, Dr. Muneeza has been the Head of Islamic Financing at CMDA, a member of the Fiqh Academy, and Chairman of the Hajj Corporation. She has provided consultancy in Islamic financing and was instrumental in launching the Maldives' first Shariah-compliant micro-financing scheme, 'Faseyha Madhadhu.'
Dr. Muneeza has also served as a Shariah Advisor, contributing to the development of frameworks for sukuk issuance by both private and public entities and played a significant role in shaping the legal infrastructure for the Islamic capital market in the Maldives.
