TECHNICIAN, NETWORK OPERATIONS (2) / TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT

Job Scope

Monitor, troubleshoot, maintain, and update network equipment to ensure the Bank’s network IT infrastructure is maintained up to defined standards. Review daily alerts from the Security Operation Center and the Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) system and resolve them. Attend issues highlighted in security assessments and resolve them on a timely manner. Also attend to routine and other operational tasks related to network equipment and the IT infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review reports and alerts from the Security Operations Center (SOC) and SIEM system.

  • Troubleshoot problems highlighted in the SOC and SIEM reports by deploying security patches, updates and configuration of network and network devices within the established timeframes and service levels.

  • Review reports and issues from various security audits and assessments and resolve those issues within the established timeframes and service levels.

  • Record, track progress and report all troubleshooting tasks to the Lead – Network Operations and Head of Network, Infrastructure & Support Unit.

  • Manage all daily activities including monitoring, maintenance, tracking, reporting, and problem resolution for the Network Operations team.

  • Information security and cybersecurity threat and vulnerability analysis.

  • Investigate, document, and report on any information security and cybersecurity issues as well as emerging trends.

  • Analyze and plan response to previously unknown hardware and software vulnerabilities.

  • Provide second level technical support to users concerning network system operations.

  • Install, configure, and maintain network cabling and other networking equipment.

  • Diagnose problems with network equipment and performs equipment repair or upgrades when appropriate.

  • Install updates and security patches to network equipment and software.

  • Respond to security incidents in accordance with the Bank’s incident response policies and procedures.

  • Enforce IT policies, procedures, and standards regarding the network, security, compliance and use of the Bank’s computer and information assets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in computer science, information technology, business, or a related field.

  • Work experience (at least 3 years with a Bachelor's, or 5 years with a Diploma) in network administration, network support, or in a similar role. OR,

  • Work experience (at least 3 years with a Bachelor's, or 5 years with a Diploma) in network administration, network support, or in a similar role.

  • Relevant professional certifications related to fields of networking (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+, JNCIA, EC-Council certifications such as SOC Analyst and Ethical Hacker) is an advantage.

  • Strong knowledge of network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.

  • Expertise in network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs) and network troubleshooting tools.

  • Familiarity with network security practices, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and access control.

  • Experience with network monitoring and management tools (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG, Nagios).

  • Proven experience in:

o   maintaining enterprise-level network solutions.

o   high-availability network configurations (e.g., load balancing, failover, redundancy).

o   SD-WAN and software-defined networking (SDN) concepts is a plus.

o   network performance tuning and optimization to ensure optimal speed, reliability, and security.

o   network equipment, including switches, routers, firewalls, servers and storage systems.

o   Windows and Linux servers, VMWare and Citrix.

o   installing and configuring network equipment.

o   diagnosing and problem-solving technical issues and resolving them.

updating and patching operating systems, endpoint security systems, computers, servers and network equipment.
